Frequently Asked Questions

1. How long does the hair need to be for a wax?

Answer: For the best and most thorough results, your hair should be at least 1/4 inch long—about the size of a grain of rice. This typically means allowing 3 weeks of growth from your last shave or 4-6 weeks from your last wax. Hair that is too short may not be effectively removed by the wax, and we may have to reschedule your appointment.

2. How long do the results last?

Answer: The smoothness from body waxing typically lasts for 2 to 4 weeks. Since waxing removes the hair from the root, the hair must regrow entirely before it reappears on the surface. We recommend scheduling your follow-up appointments every 4-6 weeks to maintain the smoothest results.

3. Does waxing hurt?

Answer: While everyone's pain tolerance is different, you will feel a quick, momentary sting as the hair is removed. The first wax is usually the most uncomfortable. However, the sensation decreases significantly with regular waxing because the hair grows back finer and the follicle weakens over time. Many clients find the results well worth the momentary discomfort!

4. How can I prepare for my wax appointment?

Answer:

 * Grow It Out: Ensure your hair is the required 1/4 inch length.

 * Exfoliate: Gently exfoliate the area 24-48 hours before your appointment to remove dead skin cells and help prevent ingrown hairs.

 * Cleanse: Arrive with clean, dry skin, free of heavy lotions or oils.

 * Avoid Caffeine/Alcohol: Avoiding stimulants an hour or two before your appointment can help reduce skin sensitivity.

5. What is the aftercare for body waxing?

Answer: Following your wax, your skin will be sensitive. For the next 24-48 hours, please:

 * Avoid Sexual Activity: for 24 hours

 * Avoid Heat: No hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, or vigorous exercise.

 * Avoid Sun Exposure: No tanning beds or direct, prolonged sun exposure.

 * Wear Loose Clothing: This prevents friction that can irritate the freshly waxed area.

 * Moisturize & Exfoliate: Start moisturizing daily 48 hours after your wax. Gently exfoliate the area 2-3 times a week (starting a few days after your appointment) to prevent ingrown hairs.

6. Can I wax while I'm on my period?

Answer: Yes, you absolutely can! We just ask that you wear a fresh tampon or menstrual cup for hygiene and comfort. Please note that many people find their skin is slightly more sensitive in the days immediately leading up to and during their cycle, so you may experience a little extra discomfort.

7. Can I wax if I am pregnant?

Answer: Yes, waxing is generally safe during pregnancy. However, due to increased blood flow and sensitivity, you may experience more discomfort than usual. We recommend consulting with your doctor first if you have any concerns.

8. Can I wax if I am taking certain medications?

Answer: Certain medications can make your skin thin and extremely fragile, leading to lifting or tearing during a wax. It is crucial to inform your technician if you are currently using or have recently stopped using:

 * Oral or Topical Retinoids (e.g., Accutane, Retin-A, Tretinoin)

 * Certain antibiotics or strong acne treatments

For products like Accutane, you must wait at least 6 months after stopping use before waxing. For topical retinoids, stop use on the area to be waxed at least 5-7 days prior. When in doubt, always ask!
